THE GOLF SWING

We should begin with certain “truths” most golfers never think about. (This paragraph is probably the most important information about the golf swing you’ll ever read.)

The golf swing is comprised of two separate movements coordinated into one. There aren’t very many instructors aware of this. In a nutshell, the first and most important thing to remember is where the ball is located. It is DOWN. It isn’t level with your chest, belt or knees. The ball sits on the ground and that is DOWN. To hit the ball as far as your particular body is capable, you must hit DOWN, and NOT ACROSS your body.

There is NO BACKSWING.  It is an UPSWING followed by a DOWNSWING as though you were pounding a nail into a 2” x 4” sitting on your workbench. Think about what you would do to get the most power. That is the first movement!  The second movement is “twisting” your upper body around to the right and then back around to the left (for a right handed golfer). Learn to combine these two movements properly and you will hit the furthest and straightest shots that you can hit.
