DRIVING BASICS
Set up inside heels shoulder width. Right foot square to the line. Left foot open 20-35 degrees.
Club bottom, level on the ground. Tilt at the waist to right dropping right shoulder down. Play the ball forward in the stance, ahead of your sternum, and opposite the inside of your left heel. Weight slightly on the right foot (right-handed golfers).
Upswing (backswing) should feel slower because the shaft is longer. Do not rush the upswing.
Turn away as much as you can and feel like you’re setting the club. Pay particular attention to the feeling of the right wrist bent backward as though you’re holding a tray of drinks.
Upper arm bone (humerus) and right elbow DO NOT FLY OUT. Elbow points to the ground at top of the swing.
The idea of driving is to catch the ball AFTER the bottom of the swing and as it is going back up again.
Wrists should be “oily.” Tempo slower!!
